MARK MERRILL NAMED EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT
FOR GRAYSTONE FINANCIAL CORP. AND GRAYSTONE BANK

July 28, 2008 (Harrisburg, PA) – Andrew S. Samuel, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, announced the promotion of Mark Merrill to the position of Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer of Graystone Financial Corp., and its wholly owned subsidiary, Graystone Bank. Mr. Merrill has significant experience in the financial services industry. Most recently, he was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Graystone Financial Corp. and Graystone Bank. Mr. Merrill is responsible for strategic planning, corporate accounting and reporting, and corporate finance.

Among his many contributions, he has managed an aggressive balance sheet that has grown from $150 million upon his arrival, to $565 million as of June 30, 2008," said Mr. Samuel. "In addition, Graystone has recognized four consecutive quarters of profit under Mark’s leadership while establishing an infrastructure with his finance team capable of supporting a much larger organization."

Mr. Merrill, who has been with Graystone Bank since May 2006, graduated from Elizabethtown College with a degree in accounting and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant. He is actively involved in the community and currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. Notably, Mr. Merrill was named to the Central Penn Business Journal’s Forty under 40 in 2007. He currently resides in Harrisburg with his wife and son.
